Raycast hot key

Raycast is one of my favorite productivity tools I use in daily life. Recently I watched the 《Why Shopify CEO loves Raycast》 and learned tips to use Raycast for tool management, speeding up my day-to-day work.

#Hot key to open any app

Opening an app to join meetings on Google Meet, chat with colleagues on Slack, and code with my favorite editor, Zed. Those actions usually take two steps. I either open a browser and type a keyword in the search bar, or move my hand from keyboard to mouse and click an app. With Raycast custom scripts, it speeds things up seamlessly and makes life easier.

#Step 1. Raycast setting

Open Raycast settings and go to the Extensions tab. Tap the “+” icon to open the pop-up menu. Select “Create Script Commands.” After entering the title and a short description, the file will save in Documents with the title as its name.

#Step 2. Edit the Script

Once you created a script, you can pass the script below

/Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome --app={url_you_want_to_pass} # e.g.https://meet.google.com

#Step 3. Choose your hot key

Select the "Scripts" tab, find your edited script, assign a hotkey, and you're good to go!
